10 Steps to Alloy Wheel Repairs

T-Smart runs an extension lead from your power supply to the van up to 25 meters.

The vehicle is jacked up and the alloy wheel is removed from the vehicle.

The air pressure is checked then released and the bead of the tyre is separated away from the wheel (the tyre is not completely removed).

Damaged areas are repaired using various techniques in means of grinding down using a machine sander and filling deep gouges where necessary.

The wheel is keyed and fully degreased prior to painting.

The wheel is masked and re-painted using the same paints used by the manufacturers and blended into the existing paintwork to get a perfect colour match.

The wheel is then lacquered with 2 coats of Premium 2K lacquer designed for alloy wheels for a strong and durable finish. It is burned into the existing paintwork using special chemicals. The whole wheel face can also be painted, where required*.

It is then baked using an infra-red technology lamp until fully hard.

Once it has cured, we then re-inflate the tyre to the correct pressure, dress the tyre and re-fit the wheel to the vehicle (re-balancing of the tyre is not required as the tyre will still be in the same position).

Once the alloy wheels are re-fitted, the tightness of the bolts are checked* and you can drive it straight away, however, we recommend not using any strong cleaning products or high-pressure washers on your wheels for at least 48 hours to allow the fresh paintwork to settle.

* additional charges apply if you require full face re-paint or colour change.

*After the initial bedding-in period of 50 miles, it is the customer's responsibility to check the tightness of wheel bolts.
